Grand Canyon National Park
Kanab sits in the middle of the Grand Circle, a grouping of national parks, recreation areas and monuments that includes Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (Lake Powell) and one of America's most famous natural wonders, Grand Canyon National Park. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon, the least-visited and hence least-crowded section of the park, lies 80 miles south of Kanab. The canyon is an awe-inspiring, deep chasm that is approximately one mile deep, up to 18 miles wide and 277 miles long. The North Rim features well-marked scenic viewpoints and several hikes along the rim, as well as mule rides, offered by private outfitters, that descend into the inner canyon. Kanab is a perfect springboard for a day trip to the Grand Canyon's North Rim. Among Kanab hotels, the log-cabin style Bob Bon Inn stands out. It would make an ideal lodging headquarters for such an excursion.
In sharp contrast to the Grand Canyon's overcrowded South Rim, only 10 percent of the national park's annual visitors venture to the North Rim, which provides views of the enormous chasm from a higher elevation. Only 10 miles away from the South Rim as the crow flies, but 215 miles by car, the North Rim's tranquility makes it a welcome respite from its southern counterpart. Located only 80 miles north of the North Rim, Kanab makes a great base camp for visiting the Grand Canyon, as well as other nearby parks and monuments that make up the Grand Circle, including Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (Lake Powell).
From your hotel room at the Canyons Lodge Inn, you could visit all of them in the space of 3-4 days! After a day of sightseeing at the Grand Canyon, the Bob Bon Inn makes a great place to relax. You can swim in our outdoor heated pool or watch a favorite television show on cable TV, which is standard in every room. Our rooms also include a microwave, a refrigerator, a hair dryer and wireless Internet access. You will also enjoy our collection of Western movie memorabilia on display. As one of Kanab's most unique hotels, Canyons Lodge Inn will make you feel right at home.
Besides the Grand Canyon, Kanab's environs are home to closer, smaller recreation and scenic areas, including Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. The park's red cliffs and juniper and pinyon pine forests provide a unique contrast to its salmon-colored sand. The park is a favorite for ATV enthusiasts, who come year round to enjoy its off-road opportunities. Playing in the sand will delight all ages. In addition to the sand dunes, a historic fort, former Western movie sets and an animal sanctuary are all within a 20-mile radius. When choosing among hotels for a visit to the Grand Canyon's North Rim, or for a base camp for exploring the Grand Circle, put the Canyons Lodge hotel at the top of your list. You will not be disappointed!
